Is 2 Mbps for 1 GB of BSNL enough to survive?

BSNL-Slow-Speed

A few days ago, there was official news that soon from 1 Oct 2015 BSNL going to provide minimum 2 Mbps speed to all of its wired broadband subscribers without any cost. Subscribers had welcomed the news with great pleasure. But after getting confirmation that the above speed will be for 1 GB only, afterward it will automatically switch to its default speed (plan specific e.g. 512 kbps). Large customer base is not satisfied with this FUP. Why only for 1 GB? One side government itself tries to bring new forms of digital India and other side, they itself, putting barrier of broadband speed limitation by giving such useless plans to the customers. According to the report In the year 2013-14, the BSNL landline department posted a loss of Rs 14,979 crore. For the year 2014-15 The losses of BSNL stood at Rs. 8,000 crores. They lost almost 1.80 crore wireless and over 25 lakhs landline customers. It can increase in coming days, if such useless offer government going to provide to the customer.

It is considered that the Modi government wants to see the company in profit in the coming decade. That’s good they should dream it, but had they ever surveyed that how many customers are satisfied with BSNL especially in term of broadband. I don’t think that most of the people are connected to landline for phone calls only. Reality is different, most of them want to use broadband with good quality and speed that’s why they are using BSNL landline otherwise there are so many players providing cheapest call rate. Many private companies providing 2 Mbps plan within the range of Rs. 450 to 600 that’s unlimited too, where BSNL going stand in this competition with 2 Mbps for 1 GB (FUP)? BSNL still have a chance to survive if they do not want to lose more customers, because one more giant player  Reliance JIO going to offer its 4G service by the end of this year. As per recent news Reliance has tied up with the Intex Company for 4G handsets and placed 1 lakh order on it. Reliance is also planning to launch 4G handsets below Rs. 5000 only. What with CDMA technology Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani did far ago, same can be happen again. There may happen price war again and the ultimate beneficiary will be the customer. This will lead the “Digital India” project ahead. And in such competition, I don’t think BSNL will be in a situation of survival, cause they can’t low down their tariff plan more as they all ready posting loss here. Still, time not passed yet, BSNL may survive by taking the positive side decision after surveying demand, supply according to the needs of customers.
