Yeah, What heading you are reading is absolutely right. Technology Development for Indian Languages (TDIL), India has developed technologies to access multilingual knowledge resources. Department of Information Technology has launched another big initiative called National Rollout Plan (NRP) to aggregate these software tools and to make these available through a web-based Indian Language Data Centre (ILDC). This activity is being run in close coordination with CDAC, GIST, Pune, India. Under this user-friendly software tools and fonts are being made available free for the public through language CDs and web downloads for the benefit of masses.
It is easy to get software CD through their site. As I have received a few CDs in a couple of the week !!!!

  • How to get software CD for free

  1. Just go to http://tdil-dc.in/index.php?lang=en
  2. Register there with your original name and address (this will be used to deliver CDs)
  3. Login on above portal 
  4. And Post request your CD's for various languages

Right now they are giving Assamese, Bangla, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Maithili, Urdu, Manipuri and many more

Recently ,  TDIL released e-Akshrayan (OCR) System for seven Indian languages on 30th July 2018. The supported languages are Hindi, Bangla, Malayalam, Gurumukhi, Tamil, Kannada & Assamese. This OCR software supports Windows 7,8 and 10. You can download this software from here
If you are interested to download single language specific OCR tool that can be download from ILDC official website. Not only this but lots of free resources are available on this website that would be really helpful to all.
If are familiar with open office suit the same is also available in the 22 official Indian languages. You can download the Bhartiya Open Office Suite from this link
