How To Add Web Search Function To The Start Menu

According to the survey 60 to 70 percentage of user spends time on search engines to look for information. Every time, 6 out of 10 user access search engine pages like Google, Bing, Alta Vista, Ask etc. Most of the internet addicts consider search engine is another name to the internet world. What they all want to get, receives through that window. We can not imagine internet without search giants like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Alta Vista, Ask, rediff etc. Here, I am going to give explanation about small piece of trick that makes a bit easy your task of searching. This simple tweak will eliminate steps of opening web browser and entering search engine address to open it. The user can trigger an internet search directly from start menu.



Follow the steps given below to do it.

Step By Step:

  1. Click on Start button
  2. Type ‘regedit’ and press enter or you can press windows + R key to open run dialogue box, enter the word ‘regedit’ (without commas) and press enter.
  3. What ever message appears response to the ‘Yes’. This will bring Registry Editor Window.
  4. In the left pane of the editor go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
  5. If the key ‘Explorer’ is not available just make new one. By right click and new , rename it with explorer.
  6. Select Explorer; go to Edit menu click on New and Click again to DWord32 Value.
  7. Rename it to ‘Add Search Internet Link In Start Menu’
  8. Double click it and enter the value 1
  9. restart your computer

  1. Open Run dialogue box enter gpedit.msc
  2. Go to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
  3. Open "Add Search Internet link to Start Menu" entry by double clicking, and hit Enabled in the window that pops up and hit OK.
