It is really a big headache if you have not taken a backup of the smartphone data and accidentally those get deleted. Not need to worry, there are lots of recovery software are available here on the internet, this can help to get back the deleted data on your smartphone. If you are using ES File Explorer then there are 100% chances to get back your deleted files (if not deleted from Recycle bin of it). But for this, you should have enabled Recycle bin option from left side slide bar. If the option of Recycle bin not enabled in the ES File Explorer then no more chances to recover. You have to go through certain software which requires rooting to smartphone or tablet.

To do so,

A) First of all switches off the device

B) Remove your removable storage (memory card)

C) Make sure the memory card has not been used anywhere before starting the recovery process.

D) Go to official the website of Recuva software, that helps to recover deleted data of your device memory card. So, point your browser to piriform[dot]com/Recuva/download

E) After downloading, install it.

F) The Recuva works on Windows 2000 and higher version. So, make sure you are using the higher one.

G) Connect your memory card using a card reader.

H) You will find a new drive icon in My Computer

I) Open Recuva, it will ask you what kind of file you want to recover like the photo, video, email etc.

J) Select the desired option.

K) Click on browse button to select the location from where you want to recover files. In your case, it is a memory card location, select memory card.

L) Click on the scan button. The process will start to recover deleted files.

M) Select the files which you want to recover and set the location path where you want to save those newly recovered files.

There is another powerful recovery software, it is Android Data Recover same can be downloaded from recovery-android[dot]com/android-data-recovery.html

It also works in the same cycle as Recuva works. Connect, scan and recover. The software is able to get back lost data from the SD card. It can recover data from the broken Android device. It is able to remove the screen lock from your Android device. It recovers almost all kind of data contact, call history, messages, WhatsApp, gallery, videos, audio and documents. It exports contact in VCF/CSV/HTML

A) Download and install in your PC

B) Connect your Android smartphone and enable USB debugging. Generally, the USB debugging option is available in the setting. Setting>>Developer Option>>USB Debugging. Check it.

C) Choose the file type those you want to recover and click next

D) It will ask you to get the privilege to scan more deleted files, just allow and retry.

E) After completing scanning it will show you list of deleted items. Check those which you want to recover.

Nowadays, Asus, Mi, Oppo, Samsung comes with the cloud storage backup facility. Where the certain amount of space is given free. When you reach to limit you may need to pay for extra space. If you are dealing with more important data every day using the smartphone than it is worth to pay for cloud storage.
If you are looking for free service, I will suggest Google drive. You get 15 GB of storage
If you want to back up your photos then go for photos.google.com that automatically takes backup of photographs.
