Aadhaar card and PAN card linking is a process that is mandatory for all Indian citizens who have both an Aadhaar card and a PAN card. The objective of this linking process is to reduce tax evasion and increase transparency in financial transactions.

The process of linking an Aadhaar card to a PAN card can be done online in a few simple steps:

  1. Visit the e-filing website of the Income Tax Department of India: https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/.
  2. Click on the “Link Aadhaar” option, located in the left-hand menu under the “Profile Settings” tab.
  3. Enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and your name as mentioned in your Aadhaar card. Make sure that the name, birth year, and gender match between your Aadhaar card and PAN card.
  4. In the next step, you will receive an OTP (One Time Password) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the specified field and click on “Link Aadhaar”.

If the information entered is correct, your Aadhaar card will be linked to your PAN card successfully. You will receive a confirmation message displaying the status of your request.

It is important to note that if there is any mismatch in the information provided, the linking process will fail. In such cases, the individual must update their Aadhaar card or PAN card information to match and then repeat the linking process.

Linking an Aadhaar card to a PAN card is a simple and straightforward process that can be done online. By completing this process, individuals can ensure that their financial transactions are transparent and comply with the Indian government's tax regulations.
